Epping Amateur Boxing Club can now count a National Schools Champion and several close runners-up among its members.
Club members Reggie Binet, 12, Ronnie Hopwood, 12, Larry Stokes, 14, and George Branch, 15, competed in the annual Schools Championships - National Finals in Swindon on Sunday.
A crowd of around 200 watched the 23 final bouts, with George becoming National Schools Champion after a unanimous decision, while Reggie, Ronnie, and Larry were runners up, all with close decisions in their bouts.
Head coach Danny Spicer said: “The boys demonstrated their dedication to the sport in the months leading up to the event, attending the club regularly as well as putting in extra training hours running to improve their fitness.
"It takes immense courage to get in the ring and we are incredibly proud by the way all our boxers conducted themselves, displayed their ever-improving skills and grit during the whole event.
"We are delighted for George winning his bout and we look forward to returning next year to bring more of the trophies home”
