Declan Rice was victorious against two of his West Ham United teammates last night as England beat the Czech Republic to win Group D at Euro 2020.
Raheem Sterling’s early header was enough to ensure Gareth Southgate’s men overtook their opponents at the top of the group and stay at Wembley Stadium in the round of 16.
However, winning the group means England will now meet the runners-up from Group F on Tuesday with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.
This is expected to be either world champions France, defending European champions Portugal or fellow big hitters Germany depending on the outcome of their final group games tonight.
Lining up against club-mates Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, Rice delivered a typically steady first-half display before he was replaced at the interval by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The Czechs meanwhile, dropped to third in the final standings after Croatia’s 3-1 victory over Scotland, but have also qualified for the last-16 as one of the best third-place sides.
