Fire and Rescue services continue to fight a gas leak after 30 nearby flats have been evacuated in Harlow.
Firefighters were called to Elizabeth Way at around 11.51am on Thursday as a 100 metre cordon has been put in place around the chemical incident.
Essex Police and Harlow Council have been providing support at the incident to those who were affected by the evacuation of around 30 flats.
Harlow station manager Lee Hurst said the safety cordon had been reduced to 50 metres at around 4.30pm.
He assured crews would be working as quick as possible with gas provider Cadent to resolve the issue.
The gas main was repaired at around 8pm last night with all agencies leaving the scene and all roads and footpaths reopening.
