A man has been charged for possession of a bladed article and three counts of assault.
The suspect was charged following an investigation into an incident in Church Langley playing fields on Saturday, June 29.
Leonard Saterlay, 58, of Sheldon Close, Harlow, is charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, three counts of assault by beating and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.
Officers received multiple reports shortly before 7pm of a man allegedly threatening members of the public including children with a knife.
Police, including armed response officers, arrived quickly at the scene and a man was arrested.
He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Monday, July 1.
