An 85-year-old resident at Weald Hall care home in Epping was celebrated with a memorable night themed around her Greek heritage.
Joanna Christodoulou, was treated to Greek decor, food, and customary dance and music.
The fantastic event included a belly dancing performance and Greek music, rounding off with the traditional practice of plate-smashing.
Ms Christodoulou enjoyed the celebration, stating to her daughter, Alix: "Make sure you tell everyone this will be an evening I will remember forever."
Joanna's celebration was joined by fellow residents of the home, many of whom had assisted in preparing the decorative plates.
The event marked a cherished memory for Ms Christodoulou, who has sadly passed since, but left with her memories of the festive night.
This Greek themed night was part of Weald Hall's Magic Moment scheme.
With an objective to enrich residents' lives through meaningful activities or unique experiences, the occasion was the first of several themed nights yet to be hosted.
Home manager Danielle Barham highlighted this initiative, as she said: "At Weald Hall, we make sure that our residents are not only cared for but that they also enjoy their time with us.
"It was lovely to see Joanna reliving old memories and enjoying her culture with her family and friends. "It’s moments like these that make our efforts worth it!”
