The informatics team at a Harlow hospital has been shortlisted for a digital award.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is recognised for their work in the driving change through data and analytics category of the 2024 HSJ Digital Awards.
The nomination highlights their creation of data products for outpatients, the emergency department, and theatres that uses machine learning to deliver data insights for operational improvement and management.
The data insights have contributed to immense impact including inflating theatre utilisation rates from 66 per cent to 73 per cent between October 2022 and March 2023, and reducing the ophthalmology wait list by 17.2 per cent from June 16 to August 21, 2023.
Zoe Collis, associate director of business intelligence, said: "The informatics team at PAHT work hard to ensure that we use data and analytics to help improve performance in teams and processes across the trust.
“I am delighted that they have been recognised for their work to deliver these improvements for our outpatients, emergency department and theatres.”
Phil Holland, chief information officer, said the awards celebrate excellence in digitising, connecting, and transforming health and care.
He added: “The project also supports our trust priorities to harness new technology and digital solutions to transform patient care and improve how we work; and I would like to wish the team the very best for the main awards in June.”
The ceremony will be hosted in Manchester on June 6.
