A 90-year-old resident at Weald Hall care home, Epping, was treated to an afternoon tea at one of her favourite haunts from days past, Claridge's.
Averil Gilbert, having lived at Weald Hall for two years, is known for her penchant for lavish experiences.
She was frequently seen dining at London restaurants, 'living the high life' with her spouse and friends during her younger years.
Her day out was coordinated by Danielle Barham, Weald Hall's home manager, and Charlie, a member of the home's lifestyle team.
The luxury enthusiast was chauffeured in a classy car to Claridge's, the renowned five-star hotel located in Mayfair, London.
The afternoon tea surpassed her expectations, prompting Ms Gilbert to refer to the experience as "world class."
She said: "The food and tea was the loveliest I have ever tasted!"
Home manager Ms Barham, who had the pleasure of arranging the surprise visit, shared her delight over the outing.
She said: "It was wonderful to see Averil enjoy every moment and have an amazing time.
"Being able to give our residents magic moments is a great honour and I hope we can continue to do this for each and every one of them."
Beyond her fondness for finer things, Ms Gilbert is a versatile lady who has had many interests including ballroom dancing and exploring new restaurants.
She previously served as the director of her family business and nurtured a close-knit group of girlfriends on her yacht during her free time.
The Premium Care Group affiliated Weald Hall care home is equipped with a bakery, cinema room, sensory room, hair salon and an expansive landscaped garden. It caters to residential and dementia care residents, plus various day care packages.
