North Weald Bassett Parish Council is on the hunt for its Citizen of the Year.

The council is welcoming nominations from the local community for individuals or groups who have demonstrated outstanding acts of bravery, commitment to certain goals, or service towards improving community facilities.

Nominees must work or live within the parish, which encompasses North Weald, Thornwood Common, and Hastingwood.

Parish council officers and councillors themselves, however, are disqualified from being nominated.

Those serving in political organisations are also excluded, while service to religious bodies only counts if it has benefited the wider community.

The council is also seeking nominations for Young Citizen of the Year.

Any young person, aged 18 and under, who feels they deserve recognition in the parish, are eligible for nomination.

All nominations must be submitted via a physical form which can be collected from the Parish Office or downloaded from the Parish council's website.

They must be submitted by no later than March 25.

Award recipients will be announced at the Annual Parish Assembly due to be held at The Parish Hall, Weald Hall Lane, Thornwood Common, on Monday, April 22.
