Children had the chance to get creative at a Coronation party thanks to a donation to Epping Forest’s largest emergency food agency.
3Food4U had a visit from The Art Society West Essex, courtesy of volunteers Sharon and Paul Taylor.
They brought 50 bags full of craft items for children to mark the King's Coronation. The charity took some of these bags to a children's Coronation Party for the residents of Norway House, North Weald - Epping Forest District Council's sheltered accommodation.
Valerie Locks, secretary of the art society said: “Thank you so much for your hospitality on Tuesday and for taking the time in your busy day to explain your incredible set up so well for us.
“We were all impressed and hope our small contribution for the children will bring some pleasure and keep bored minds and hands busy over the long weekend of the Coronation.”
The Arts Society West Essex is the local branch of The Arts Society national and international organisation which brings knowledge and understanding of the arts to as many interested people as possible.
They meet once a month on the first Wednesday of the month at Theydon Bois Village Hall and have a one hour illustrated lecture from an expert. These are chosen by a panel at the organisation’s headquarters and the local society has access to a huge list of talented lecturers who have all been screened.
As well as their lectures, the society runs special interest days and outings.
Valerie said: “The craft bag initiative was started by another society and caught our imagination. We have read a lot about your organisation and the fact we could help you by providing some art and craft materials and suggestions to encourage children’s imagination and hopefully help keep them happily occupied with no expense to the parents/carers appealed to us.”
3Food4U would welcome any support if you know any organisation that would like to work with them to support the community.
