A MAJOR Essex road was held at a standstill due to overturned lorry after a crash.
The M11 motorway was closed today all morning after a lorry crash near Bishop's Stortford.
The northbound carriageway shut to traffic between Junction 8 and Junction 10.
Emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance, were all on the scene, with the incident first reported at around 8.45am.
A lorry has left the carriageway, and a person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews freed the driver shortly before midday and left him in the care of the Ambulance Service.
"Our Control team has been liaising with environmental authorities regarding a fuel leak, which firefighters managed to contain.
"Firefighters have left the scene with Essex Police and National Highways."
