A snapshot in time from 1935 with the original Green Man Hotel and Pub, centre, in Old Church Road, Chingford.
To the left is Gomme’s Farm dating back to the early 1700s.
Much of the farm’s land was taken for housing development in the 1930s and the farmhouse itself, despite much opposition from local historians, eventually succumbed to developers in 1952.
