A Harlow-based Paralympian is “humbled” to have received an honorary degree.
Anne Wafula Strike was recognised by the University of Essex in their summer graduations.
She was awarded for her career as a British Paralympic wheelchair racer, her charity efforts, and her work in promoting sporting equality.

Ms Strike said: “I am humbled to have received such an amazing award and for the recognition of issues that are so close to my heart.
“I never thought I would be a Paralympian and I am proud of the opportunities I have had to share my passion for sport and sporting equality.”
Ms Strike is also an associate non-executive director on the board of The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
