Around 60 firefighters tackled a grass fire which broke out in Leytonstone.
The London Fire Brigade responded to around four hectares of grass alight near Davies Lane shortly after 1pm on Monday.
More than 30 999 calls were received and eight fire engines were dispatched to the scene, including from Walthamstow, Woodford, and Leytonstone.
The fire was brought under control just after 3pm and there were no reports of any injuries but much of the grass was burnt out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Crews worked incredibly hard to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties.
"Although the temperature has dropped, grasslands will still be extremely dry. We don’t want people to be complacent and that means avoiding barbecuing in parks and open spaces, ensuring cigarettes are properly disposed of and clearing away rubbish and glass as they can magnify the sun and cause a fire.”
