The main road through Loughton is currently closed because of emergency repairs.
High Road has been shut in both directions since the end of last week after Thames Water discovered a “void” under the road while working on another project.
The closure is in place outside Boots and Totally Wicked, with no direct access through High Road between Brooklyn Avenue and Station Road.
Diversion signs are in place.
Essex Highways said today (July 18) that the void has now been filled but the emergency road closure remains in place.
This is because the road still needs to be resurfaced.
Once the road has been resurfaced, the road will reopen but Essex Highways has warned four-way traffic lights will be in place.
It’s unclear how long the temporary traffic lights will be in place for.
