A mother has told how she is “absolutely devastated” that her child’s much-loved pre-school will close for good.
The Buckhurst Hill Baptist Church Pre-school will close at the end of this school term, July 19, due to financial issues.
In a letter posted to parents on May 3, it said the school cannot remain open due to sustained losses during the pandemic and a reduced number of enrolments.

Rosie Houston, whose three-and-a-half-year-old daughter attends the school, said: “I am absolute devastated. I’ve cried. The children have cried.”
She added: “I feel like the pre-school really gives them something. The staff are so nurturing.
“They have got such love for the children. It’s a special place.
“You know the children are going to be well cared for. It is not something that can be easily replicated.”
Essex County Council said in a statement it has worked with the school to try and find a solution to stay open, which has not worked.
The council added parents can email Early.Years@essex.gov.uk to assist with alternatives.
