SIX-YEAR-OLD Charles Garnar from Old Harlow gave up a weekend to clean up his neighbourhood after learning about the environment in school.
After telling his parents he wanted to help ‘our planet' the family bought a litter picker for him to collect rubbish on his venture around St John’s Avenue, where he lives.
The Fawber and Barnard Primary school pupil filled several bags with rubbish. saying: “I'm happy that I made my home a little more tidy.”
Charles' father, Paul, said: “We are proud that Charles has displayed so much passion towards trying to save the environment and for wanting to help his community.
"He loves the town he lives in and he never hesitates to pick up other people's litter if he sees them drop it.
"We hope his actions inspire others and that he continues to help keep our community as clean as can be."
Charles has also been awarded class tokens and a head teacher's sticker for his actions.
