Roads in Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell and Loughton are among those in Epping Forest set to be temporarily closed for roadworks.
Notices from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian detail the extent of the planned closures and any other restrictions that may be necessary while the works are carried out.
Temporary closure orders are valid for 18 months and the dates when the works take place can vary. These will be displayed on signs at or near the relevant locations and/or on the one.network website.
A phased programme across the district is due to get underway on December 9. In addition to the closures, temporary ‘no waiting, no loading and no stopping’ measures will be introduced on both sides of the affected carriageways.
The lengths of road due to be shut are:
- Gladstone Road, Buckhurst Hill – from its junction with Russell Road to its junction with High Road, a distance of approximately 265m.
- Lee Grove, Chigwell – from its junction with Chigwell Rise to its end, a distance of approximately 465m.
- Tomswood Road, Chigwell – from its junction with New Forest Lane to end of highway boundary, a distance of approximately 373m.
- Brooklyn Avenue, Loughton – from its junction with High Road to its junction with Churchfields, a distance of approximately 318m.
- Turpins Lane, Chigwell – from its junction with Chigwell Road to its junction with Manor Road, a distance of approximately 422m.
- Fontayne Avenue, Chigwell – from its junction with Lechmere Avenue to its junction with Stanwyck Drive, a distance of approximately 825m.
- Tycehurst Hill, Loughton – from its junction with Spareleaze Hill to its other junction with Spareleaze Hill, a distance of approximately 776m.
- Alderton Hill, Loughton – from its junction with Station Road to its junction with Alderton Hall Lane, a distance of approximately 1018m.
- New Farm Drive, Lambourne – from its junction with Ongar Road for a distance of approximately 326m in a south-easterly direction.
In a separate planned order, Alderton Hill, Loughton, is also due to be closed from both its junctions with Station Road roundabout to its junction with Roding Road, a distance of approximately 157m.
This is scheduled to last for three days from December 20 and is for footbridge renewal works.
Also from December 20 but for two days, Hobbs Cross Road, Harlow, is due to be shut to vehicles from its junction with Elmbridge for a distance of approximately 285m in a south-easterly direction. This is to allow post replacement and signage installation works to be carried out.
