We have been looking back at some of the pubs that have been lost over the years in the Guardian’s areas throughout this summer.
Having featured many of those pubs that have pulled their final pints in parts of East London, we now turn to Epping Forest and look at some of those that have closed in Epping and Loughton.
The Lost Pubs Project archives the decline of the English pub and this page uses pictures and information sourced from its website www.closedpubs.co.uk.
Also located in Epping High Street, the Duke of York was demolished in 1931
If you grew up or have connections with Epping Forest and are interested in sharing your memories and pictures of the area, ask to join our nostalgia Faceboook group ‘We grew up in Epping Forest’.

The Spotted Dog was in Ivy Chimneys Road
The Crown was located at 153 High Road, Loughton
The Kings Head in Loughton was converted into a restaurant
The Wheatsheaf was another pub in Loughton that was turned into a restaurant
