Dignitaries, families and groups joined to remember fallen service men and woman in Harlow for VJ Day.
A service was held at Harlow Town Park on Sunday morning and was organised by the Harlow branch of the Royal British Legion.
The ceremony was led by Reverend Albert Watson.
The event marked the 76th anniversary of Victory in Japan Day. Victory over Japan Day is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in World War II, in effect bringing the war to an end.
The chair of Harlow Council, Clive Souter gave a speech.
Speaking after the event he said: "It went extremely well and I have a lot of respect for the British Legion and always like to attend their events.
"There was a very good turn out as well on the day and it's always really important to remember the fallen. There were councillors and veterans in attendance too."
