Students from Aylward Academy celebrated their GCSE results, with some having done particularly well.

Students’ results were determined by teachers this year.

Each school graded their students based on what they were able to learn and achieve during the last two years.

The grades were submitted to the exam boards together with supporting evidence, and then quality assured by the exam boards.

This year, the following students at Aylward Aacademy did particularly well:

Enes Keskin - six grade 9s in English literature, English language, Turkish, drama, computer science and history. Three grade 7s in maths and double science.

Laura Cante -  eight grade 9s in English language, English literature, maths, Portugese, Spanish, science, media studies.

Jada Lee - four grade 9s in English language, English literature, history and maths. Grade 8 for double science and grade 7 for computer science.

Mahamed Ali -  three Grade 9s in English language, English Literature, maths. Four Grade 8s in history, French, science.

Headteacher of Aylward Academy Remo Iafrate said: “I am delighted for our Year 11 students – they have worked so hard, both this year and last year, despite all of the challenges and disruption that Covid brought.

“They deserve these grades and I am incredibly proud of what each and every one of them has achieved.

“Whether they are going onto study A-levels, vocational qualifications, or going into employment or training, they have a bright future ahead.”

National Director of Secondary Schools at AET David Hatchett said: “Today’s GCSE results are testament to the hard work of students over what has been a very disruptive two years.

“I congratulate each and every one of them, and pay tribute to our teachers who have made today’s results possible in these challenging circumstances.”
