A rural picture of Loughton High Road at the turn of the 20th century with just a few scattered shops and the Old Bank.
Large villas also line the road up to Forest Road.
You can just see the first Methodist church on the right, rebuilt in 1987. Opposite is Traps Hill.
The scene is unrecognisable today.
