Epping Town Council kept up its winning streak in an annual boules challenge, once again winning the contest trophy.

The town council beat Epping Forest District Council 13-5 in the annual petanque challenge match held at the Stonards Hill Recreation Ground in Epping.

It takes the overall score over 30 challenges to 15-15.

Epping town mayor Cllr Michael Wright and deputy town mayor Cllr Barbara Scruton represented the town council, with councillors Sam Kane and Les Burrows playing for the district council.

The match was hosted by the Epping Horizons Petanque Club last Sunday.

Deputy town mayor Barbara Scruton said: “It’s good for the town council to keep the trophy after our victory.

“I also think it’s interesting as the event has been going 30 years and the total number of victories in the event is 15-15.

“We were lucky with the weather too as it was raining very hard and I was worried about playing in the bad weather but then the sun came out.”

“It was a great day.”
