A charitable group of budding footballers have helped raise money for charity following the death of a 9-year-old boy, killed by a bolt of lightning while playing the sport he loved.
Jordan Banks was fatally injured while "participating in a football coaching session" on playing fields in Blackpool on May 11.
He was hit by a lightning strike and taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead, an inquest heard earlier this year.
The young lads and ladies at Chigwell FC were devastated when they learned of Jordan's death, and at their following game they placed nine balls on the pitch before holding a minute's silence.
However, the team were also inspired to fundraise for charity – something Jordan was no stranger to himself.
On Saturday, July 17 the team and the community came together to raise £1,635 in Jordan's memory.
Just under 40 players gathered in the scorching heath for a series of games in memory of young Jordan.
T-shirts were on sale to fundraise and over 30 individuals and businesses donated cash or items to be raffled for the cause
Earlier this year, Liverpool fan Jordan ran 30 miles in 10 days in memory of his uncle, raising £3,000 for mental health charity
Money raised being spilt between Jordan's just giving page and Counselling in the Community.
Jordan played for Clifton Rangers Junior Football Club, which previously described him as "an extraordinary young man".
In the aftermath of his death, the football club raised more than £12,000 to create a permanent memorial to him.
