A volunteer centre run by an Epping Forest charity needs more people to come forward to help the dozens of organisations it supports.
Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) has been overwhelmed with the number of people that have become volunteers since the lockdowns of 2020 and who want to offer their time to help others.
However, the Epping Forest Volunteer Centre, run by VAEF, sill needs more people to help in one of the 100-plus organisations that need volunteers.
Perhaps you could help at a vaccination centre? VAEF has already provided 75 volunteers at centres in Epping and Buckhurst Hill since December 2020, but now Communities 1st now needs more volunteers to become volunteer stewards at new vaccination sites across the Epping Forest area.
Epping ReUse, a charity that helps the environment and the homeless by upcycling goods, needs help from office administrators.
For those that enjoy being part of a social club setting, why not become an activity volunteer for a mental health club at Open Door Loughton or become a walk leader assistant with Epping Forest District Council to help others keep fit and meet new people in your community?
Other opportunities include offering friendship and support to people who are feeling isolated by becoming a Befriender for Mind in West Essex. Or become a visitor support service volunteers at local heritage site, The Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey. They are relaunching their visitor engagement programme and need help from volunteers.
Through the Epping Forest Volunteer Centre, VAEF supports both organisations and volunteers by matching people to specific opportunities and supporting them with good practice advice.
A full list of volunteering opportunities can be found at www.volunteeressex.org
If you can spare any time to volunteer, call VAEF to arrange a meeting or discuss your volunteering interests over the phone.
If you are an organisation and have volunteering opportunities you would like VAEF to assist you with, call 01992 284761 or email volunteering@vaef.org.uk
