Pictured above is Loughton High Road from c1950 looking towards Kings Green.
The double gabled building on the left was built in 1886 and known as the Albion Granary.
After being occupied for a time by Browns Engineering, it was demolished in 1981 to make way for a supermarket.
Fortunately the old clock was saved and incorporated into the new building.
The parade of shops on the right was extended further after demolition of some fine old houses in the early 1960s.
