A primary school has been chosen to be the recipients of a generous donation from a convenience store.
Handsworth Primary School in Handsworth Avenue, Highams Park was presented with a £500 cheque by Nisa manager, Gaspar Munoz on Tuesday.
National convenience store chain Nisa, runs a charitable organisation Making a Difference Locally (MADL) to help give back to the community by selling MADL products.
Mr Munoz, who runs the Highams Park branch in Hale End Road, was keen to give the donation to a nearby school.
Andrew Golds owner of bookstore V and A Books in The Avenue, Highams Park, helped Mr Munoz present the money.
He said: “Gaspar asked me to put him in touch with the local schools and set up the meeting with Handsworth Primary to present the cheque.
“This is a very generous donation made by Nisa and I know the Friends of Handsworth are very grateful.”
The school’s parent teacher association Friends of Handsworth said they will be putting the money towards new playground facilities.
