Gertrude Behn

BEHN, Gertrude ("Trude") Formerly of Springfield Epping Passed away peacefully on 6th April 2013 at The Lodge Residential Home Maldon, Essex aged 98 year. Trude was born in Vienna, Austria in 1915. After working as a journalist for Reuters in Turkey she came to St. Margaret's Hospital Epping in 1948 to train as a nurse. Following further training as a midwife at St. Andrews Scotland Trude returned to Epping briefly as a Night Sister before taking a Sisters post on Lilac Ward which she held for 16 years until her retirement. She will be fondly remembered by past staff, patients and friends for the love and care she gave over the 24 years of her nursing career. Among her may interests were learning French, cooking and walking both in England & when visiting Austria during holidays. The Funeral Service will take place at The Assumption of our Lady R C Church, Victoria Road Maldon Essex at 12 midday on Wednesday the 24th April. Flowers or donations if desired made payable to "Macmillan Cancer Support
