Six people have been left injured following a two vehicle accident which left a van on fire.
Firefighters from Loughton, Harlow and Brentwood were called to the scene near the M11 exit at junction 27 on the M25 following reports of a van on fire following a road traffic collision.
Two people, a man in his 30's and a 15-year-old girl have been taken to Whipps Cross Hospital.
Four further casualties remain on the scene with paramedics.
The incident caused traffic to come to a standstill whilst crews in breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have said that the incident is causing "major tailbacks".
All lanes are closed in both directions and the Highways Agency expects disruption until 1pm at least.
